Impact and Value of ASHRAE’s Standards and Technology
Tuesday, May 11th 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
This meeting will be hosted using GoToWebinar.
Technical Program Description
Since its birth 125 years ago, ASHRAE has been dedicated to advancing the arts and science of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and their allied fields. Under the guidance of MTG.IAST (Impact of ASHRAE’s Standards and Technology) a research project was recently completed to assess and document the influence of ASHRAE and its members with respect to advanced research, higher education, industry guidelines, and professional development. This paper presents the major findings from ASHRAE Research Project 1848-RP. ASHRAE’s contributions were classified into five major categories: (1) Building Energy Efficiency; (2) Human Health and Comfort; (3) Minimizing Human Impact on the Environment; (4) Industry and Commerce; and (5) Education and Professional Training. In each of these categories, facts and data were collected from multiple sources to assess ASHRAE’s impact on different aspects, including government regulations; design, building, and testing guidelines in industry; academia and education; and influences on other professional societies or organizations.
