This month's meeting will be co-hosted by  the ASHRAE Atlanta Chapter and USGBC-Georgia. The program will include a brief Georgia Energy Code update by Matt Cox, CTO of The Greenlink Group and Jeff West,  Commercial Energy Efficiency Project Engineer for ICF International.

Introduction to USGBC's LEED Lab Program at Agnes Scott College

Susan Kidd, the Director of Sustainability at Agnes Scott College, will be presenting on a new program being implemented by the USGBC called LEED Lab. The program aims to prepare students for careers in sustainability through multi-disciplinary training, including but not limited to implementation of green cleaning policies, water-use reduction strategies, ASHRAE Level I Energy Audits, ASHRAE standard 62.1 and EPA refrigerant regulation requirements. Susan will discuss the implementation of the LEED Lab program at Agnes Scott and how it has positively impacted the students in understanding all facets of operations and maintenance for their campus. An Agnes Scott student will also share their experience with the program and what they've learned about the built environment. Kennesaw State University is a partner of Agnes Scott College in the implementation of the LEED Lab program.

With the goal of transforming existing campus facilities around the world, the USGBC has developed a clear vision for the future: LEED Lab. An innovative solution for integrating sustainable practices into daily campus operations and maintenance, LEED Lab is an interactive, multidisciplinary immersion course designed to transform the academic environment by preparing students for competitive 21st century careers in sustainability.

In the course, students learn the principles of LEED and assess the performance of existing facilities on campus, choosing one building where they will facilitate the complete LEED O+M process with the goal of certifying the facility. At the close of the semester, students are prepared to sit for and take the LEED AP O+M professional credential exam.
