Government Outreach Day 2019 (formerly Day on the Hill) will be the third annual ASHRAE advocacy event in Georgia. This is a great opportunity to meet your state senator and representative to discuss how ASHRAE can be a resource for policy makers. Make sure they know that ASHRAE members live and work in their districts – members with expertise including energy efficiency, refrigerant safety, legionella risk mitigation, and more. We'll meet in the morning for a quick advocacy bootcamp, so you'll have all the resources you need (including ASHRAE literature) to make your visit a success.
Schedule:
8:45 am - meet at the AIA Atlanta Office (50 Hurt Plaza, Suite 109) for coffee, breakfast, and advocacy updates. Consider taking MARTA or cycling to the event. There are plenty of bike racks (including a Relay Bike Share station) on the east side of the building and across the street on the GSU Campus. For those who drive, nearby paid parking is available in the United Way Building parking garage on Auburn Ave between Courtland St and Peachtree Center Ave. Unfortunately, we do not have parking validation.
10:00 am - walk to Capitol for ASHRAE Atlanta Chapter Photo
10:15 am - meetings with legislators
11:45 am - regroup and debrief
If you missed our advocacy training webinar on February 6th, the slides and a step-by-step guide are linked below so you can arrange a meeting with your legislators in advance.
